BROUWER: Teny (nee Dekker)
June 8, 1935 - April 2, 2024
At the age of 88, after a life of faith, family and service, Teny Brouwer was called home to her Lord and Saviour.
Teny was born in Broek op Langedijk, the Netherlands, and immigrated to Canada in her 20s. As a new immigrant, Teny trained and worked as an RPN. After practicing for a short time, she met and married her husband Jim and began using her skills in serving her family. Jim and Teny made their home in Chatham and together raised their five children on the family farm.
Teny embraced and became an integral part of farm life. She was devoted to her family, church and community. Teny highly valued caring for others; she provided exemplary care and companionship to Jim throughout his journey with Parkinson’s Disease.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Jim (2019) and infant twin daughters Elly and Evelyn (1969).

Will be missed by siblings Marie and Chiel DeKraker, Berta Dekker, Cor and Ank Dekker and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will take place Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m at McKinlay Funeral Home (459 St. Clair St, Chatham). A Graveside Service will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Chatham on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 9:30am prior to the Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Christian Reformed Church (34 Victoria Ave, Chatham) with reception to follow at McKinlay Funeral Home. The funeral is on the day of the total solar eclipse - please travel safely and also enjoy the eclipse.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chatham Christian School or Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
