Markowiak: Janet (née Callaghan) -
A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Ajax, Janet Markowiak passed away with family at her side on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the age of 67.
Born in Manchester, England, Janet was the daughter of the late Albert and Winnifred (née Haughton) Callaghan.
Beloved wife of 45 years to Mike Markowiak.
Loving and cherished mother of Jacob Markowiak (Tara) and Janine Markowiak (Michael Rawlings).
Proud Grandma/Grammy to Logan, Riley and Madison.
Dear sister to Christine Philips (late Paul, 2023).
Aunt to Michelle and Hollee.
Also missed by many friends as well as all of her daycare children from over the years.
Janet had a rewarding career at Children's Village in Scarborough where she was able to touch the lives of many children for over 35 years. Janet specialized in assisting special needs children, to whom she provided unconditional love and care.
Janet enjoyed travelling the world with Mike, enjoying the history, the scenery, the culture, and occasionally doing nothing on the beach.
Janet will be remembered for her quick wit, sarcasm and her massive heart.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11:00am until the Celebration of her Life at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
Donations made in memory of Janet to the SickKids Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
