Obituary of John Cunningham
A resident of Chatham, formerly of Cedar Springs, John Cunningham passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
He was the son of the late Thomas & Joanne (nee Dickenson) Cunningham.
John will be reunited with his loving wife of 62 beautiful years, Betty Lou (Moore, November 7, 2022).
Loving father of Thomas William (Rhoda), & Maralee Noltie (John). Predeceased by his son, James.
Proud grandfather of Erin (Gary) & Heather (Carlos) Cunningham, Jennifer, Michael & David (Emily) Cunningham, Daniel (Marissa) & Bradley (Carley) Noltie.
Great-grandfather of Harper, Peyton, Sawyer, Denica, Aynsley, Lochlyn, Fergus & Fiona.
Predeceased by his sister, Margaret Wilkie (the late Alex).
Brother-in-law of Gary Newman (Ena).
Missed by many nieces & nephews.
Born in Fife, Scotland, John immigrated to Canada at the age of 21. He retired from Siemans after 39 years of service and in retirement, enjoyed getting together with retirees from the factory for a coffee. John loved his gardens and bird watching.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Eden Villa for their continuing care and compassion with John.
A Graveside Service will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 1:30 pm.
In memory of John, donations may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
