Obituary of Robert Stewart
A lifelong farmer of Chatham-Kent, Robert Glen Stewart peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
He was the only son of the late Glen and Violet (nee Gardiner) Stewart and a proud little brother to the late Carol Stewart.
Robert will be forever missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Beth Stewart (nee McKellar) - whom could always be found by his side, tending to the farmland.
His children, Allison Stickney and Eric Stewart will always cherish the memories of their loving and devoted father. His gentle wisdom will always guide their thoughts and actions.
He was a kind and loving father-in-law to Greg Stickney and Dani Stewart, and they will feel his loss and the positive impact he had on their lives.
Robert was a very proud grandpa to Travis and Drew Stickney - he relished in watching them grow and found great joy in their presence.
He will be missed by six brother-in-laws and their partners, and greatly bereaved by all extended family, friends and community.
Alongside his lifelong devotion to farming in Chatham-Kent, he was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Robert enjoyed hunting with friends and family on Manitoulin Island, restoring his antique cars and tinkering away in his shop - mostly building beautiful birdhouses. If he wasn't doing these activities, he could likely be found at the Shady Pine enjoying himself a good chat and a coffee.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the incredible support, compassionate care and continued assistance they received from, the Community Paramedic Program, the Thamesview Family Health Team, and the staff of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
Family is to receive all who wish to come, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 60 5th Street, Chatham. Burial to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
In memory of Robert, donations may be made to the Community Paramedic Program (cheques payable to the Chatham-Kent EMS) or to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation.
