Sara Markovich

Obituary of Sara Markovich

Sara, beloved wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024.

She was born and raised in Blenheim, where she spent her childhood until high school. After high school, she moved to Windsor to attend university. It was there that she met a close-knit group of friends with whom she remained in touch throughout her life. She began her professional career as a social worker in the Chatham-Kent community, where she served for 4 years. Later, she transitioned into education, dedicating 30 years to nurturing and teaching elementary age children before retiring. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her professional life, as she was an active volunteer within the community.

Sara had many passions, including golfing, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, fishing, and enjoying the great outdoors. She was also an avid knitter and reader, often spending her quiet moments engaged in these hobbies. Her beloved dog, Millie, was a constant companion and brought her immense joy.

A proud member of the Maple City Golf and Country Club since 1995, Sara served as president for a term, contributing greatly to the club's community.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mike Markovich, her sister Hope Hay, her brother Tom Higginbotham, her stepsons Brady and Riley Markovich, her nieces Alexis, Pamela, Victoria, Steph, and Les, her nephew Gregory, and her sister-in-law Dorianna. Sara will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pet and Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) in her memory.

As per Sara's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on later date.
