Andrea Eves

Obituary of Andrea Eves

EVES: Andrea -

It is with deep sadness that we share that Andrea Elaine Eves passed away peacefully with family at North York General Hospital on June 29, 2024, at the age of 53. Born on May 25,1971, in Windsor, she was the angel to her parents, Dennis and Susan Eves. With Andrea’s arrival, she gave the ultimate gift to Susan’s Mum Dorothy. Dorothy became, what she always wanted to be, a Grandma.

Andrea attended Winston Churchill Elementary School and Queen Elizabeth II Public School in Chatham. She excelled in Reading, Math and English. She was an eager student, ready to learn. Andrea learned to read on her own, at age three. There wasn’t a time she didn’t have a book in her hand. Andrea was an accomplished figure skater, bowler, poet, mathematician and baseball player. Her grandma Dorothy taught Andrea to crochet when Andrea was only 10 years old. This began a love for the art of creating beautiful blankets for years to come.

Andrea attended Chatham Collegiate Institute for high school and graduated with honours. Andrea had many interests: drama club, chess club, political debates, CGIT, and the School Reach Program. Andrea was one of eight students selected to this program because of their knowledge in Science, Geography, History and the Arts. The team won a county championship as well as placing third in regionals. She was very bright, very quick and very sharp. Andrea was a gifted bowler. In 1985, she won the Girls High single trophy achieving a 235 game. Anything Andrea did, she did with ease and confidence and with her remarkable gift of kindness

Andrea was accepted into the very competitive Con-Current Education Program at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She graduated in May 1995 with honours with a Bachelor of Arts - English and a Degree in Education. She decided a few years later, to take another path and continued her education to revisit her love of numbers. She attended and graduated from Confederation College with an Accounting Diploma.

After completing her studies, Andrea decided to move to Toronto. This made a lot of sense given her love of music, concerts, karaoke, and sporting events. Andrea loved to support her favourite Toronto Teams while continuing to do the many things she loved: crocheting/knitting, theater, movies, ComiCon, Fan expo. Toronto truly captured her adventurous spirit.

Andrea had so many friends. With her quick wit, infectious smile, a light inside her that shone and so much kindness and patience to others, Andrea was able to make friendships that lasted more than twenty years. Ultimately friends and coworkers turned into her family.

During Andrea’s professional career she had different roles, but it was when she joined CIBC, she flourished. During her 12 years at CIBC, she enjoyed working as a Senior Account Processing Officer in the Bank’s Business Operations Group. In August 2023 she was asked to transfer to a Regulatory Registration role. Andrea was a valued, respected, smart, detail-oriented employee and one of the favourites among her team members. Her team would engage in a morning huddle. Each morning a riddle would be shared. It does not surprise our family that Andrea would always know the answer to these riddles. She was a wizard at Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy.

Andrea loved her family. Each of our family members had their own special relationship with her. She was especially proud of the title “Aunt Drea” to her two beautiful nieces, Avery and Mila. Andrea always made the time to be with us or connect with us. She expected nothing in return but the chance to show us love and kindness. Her love is pure joy and will continue to fill our hearts. Andrea will always be remembered as a selfless person, always thinking and caring of others. She was a blessing to all who knew and loved her. Andrea found her place in this big world, and she was truly happy.

Time is a thief. We don’t know how long we have each other, nor do we know the plan for us during our time here on Earth. What we do know are the gifts God gave Andrea: Adventure: Andrea took the time God gave her and had so many adventures. Friendship: Andrea was a wonderful friend. She made many memories with these friends. Love: Andrea loved her family and friends unconditionally. Creativity: Andrea created the most beautiful blankets for family that we can happily wrap ourselves in. Laughter: Making Jamie Hyneman from Myth Busters giggle. Musical: Andrea loved to sing and dance at U2 concerts. She attended and supported so many U2 tribute band Elevation shows.

Andrea was fearless and outgoing. She loved the life she created. She was the captain of her life, setting sail where and when she wanted to. Her last adventure has taken her to heaven to be reunited with her two special angels, Mum and Grandma.

Andrea, we will carry you on our own adventures. We will always love you and we are so lucky to have had the time we had with you. Dad wants you to know that he loves you very much and your loss has left a big hole in his heart.

Andrea, you have made our lives so much brighter. Thank you. You will always be with each one of us. We know you loved Doctor Who, so Andrea, we know you will like this:

I carry them with me. What they would have thought and said and done.

Make them part of who I am.

So even though they’re gone from the world, they’re never gone from me.
