Obituary of Carol Ann Smith
SMITH: Carol Ann (Jewell) -
A resident of Ridgetown, Carol Smith passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at her side on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the age of 84.
Carol was the daughter of the late Lorne and Mary Garton and the late Mary and Mac Inglis.
Beloved wife of the late Harold Jewell (1994).
Loving mother of Penny McDougall (Gerald), Kevin Jewell (Bonnie) and Darrin Jewell (Sandra).
Proud Grandma to Shelly Alliet (Trevor), Krista Penney (Alex Shore), Jacqueline Geerlings (Graham), Matthew Jewell (Brianna), Pamela Bond (Mike) and Brandon Jewell (Alexis) as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her great-grandaughter Everleigh Jewell (2020).
Dear sister to Ken Garton (Rose), the late Betty Shannon (Bob) and Lorna Garton (Bob).
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Carol was a secretary in the Engineering Department at the Agricultural School for many years and was an active member of Emmanuel Congregational Church. She was always available to lend a hand for church lunches. She spent many of her vacations volunteering at Vacation Bible School.
Carol was always on the move and liked to travel with friends, her favourite place being Hawaii. She was an extremely social person and loved going for coffee, lunch and suppers, even if she already had eaten.
Carol enjoyed volunteering her time giving manicures at the Village on the Ridge for many years.
As per Carol's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at Emmanuel Congregational Church, 92 Erie Street North, Ridgetown on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 10:00 am until the Memorial Service at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Ridgetown.
Donations made in memory of Carol to the Emmanuel Congregational Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
