Dianne Peltier

Obituary of Dianne Peltier

Peltier, Dianne Margaret (Nee Henry)-

On September 24, 2024 Dianne passed on to eternal life, at home surrounded by her family. A lifelong Chathamite, Dianne grew up on Forest Street, the daughter of Joseph and Verna (nee Geroux) Henry. In childhood, Dianne would be found in the choir loft at Blessed Sacrament Church singing for the morning masses, in Latin. She had an angel’s voice. Dianne was one of twelve children born to Joseph and Verna.

In 1959 she married the love of her life, Leo Peltier. Together, they built a beautiful life over these past 65 years, welcoming two daughters: Janice Lawton (Steve) and Denise Peltier. Dianne and Leo would go on to travel the world, visiting Alaska, South America, The Caribbean, Europe and the British Iles, in particular her beloved Ireland. Dianne was very proud of her Irish heritage.

A lifelong learner, Dianne graduated from St. Clair College with a certificate in Social Welfare. She believed deeply in service to others. She was a volunteer with the Victorian Order of Nurses Palliative Care Team; served at funeral lunches and offertory counting at St. Agnes Church as well as volunteered with St. Vincent De Paul to provide grocery vouchers to those in need.

One of the greatest joys of Dianne’s life was being a grandmother to her three grandson’s: Dylan, Jared and Trevor. She was, by far, the greatest fan of their lives.

Dianne’s legacy can be defined by her love of music, her intellect, her quick wit, her propensity to have a good time, her humanity, her faith and most importantly, the exponential love she had for her family.

We are blessed beyond measure to have had these past 82 years with her as she was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. No measure of time will ever be enough and while we will miss her each and every day, we are filled with gratitude for the blessings and love she gave to us and the example of a life well lived.

Family will receive guests at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Ave Chatham, on October 5, 2024 with visitation from 10:00am - 11:00am with a Funeral Mass at 11:00am, interment to St. Anthony's Cemetery to follow.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Canadian Food for Children and the VON Palliative Care Program Chatham-Kent would be appreciated by the family.
