Obituary of Ronald Paine

Ronald Douglas Paine, a lifelong resident of Ridgetown, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance hospital on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the age of 82, just one day shy of his 83rd birthday.

For 35 years, Ronald dedicated his career to the Bookshelf Bindery before enjoying an early retirement. He was a committed volunteer with the Ridgetown Fire Department for over 30 years and was an active member of the Ridgetown Branch of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, contributing to various charitable causes. In retirement, Ronald embraced golf and cherished his time at the Ridgetown Legion Branch #243.

Born in Ridgetown, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Evelyn (née Wright) Paine. Ronald was a devoted husband to the late Norine Paine (née Cartwright), who predeceased him in 2023. He is survived by his loving children, Thomas (Jana), David (Celeste), and Scott, and will be remembered fondly by his grandchildren Paula Paine (Tim VanRootselaar), Joshua Paine (Bita), Christopher Paine, and Michael Paine, as well as his great-grandson, Theodore Paine.

Ronald was preceded in death by his siblings, including Marjorie Deseure, Gary Paine, Bruce Paine, and Beverley Paine. He is survived by his sisters Diane Ardis and Darlene Smyth, as well as Dennis Paine (Yvonne) and Randy Paine. He was a cherished brother-in-law to Ann Willis (late David), Marilyn Dales (late Jim), the late Bill Cartwright (Michelle), and the late Wayne Cartwright. Ronald will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

A visitation will take place at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. As well, a Firefighter Walkthrough will be held at 2:00pm.

A Private Family Funeral will be held at a later date with a burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald's memory can be sent to the Ridgetown Legion Branch #243 or a charity of your choice.
