Obituary of Léandre St Amand

A resident of Chatham, Léandre St Amand passed away at his residence surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the age of 78. 

Born in St André, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Claude and Yvonne (née Morin) St Amand. 

Beloved husband of 53 years to Jeanne (née Ouellette).

Loving father of Marie-Line (Adam) Boersma & Eric (Jane) St Amand. Predeceased by daughter, Julie St Amand & David St Amand.

Pépère of Damian Boersma, Logan Boersma, & Isabelle St Amand

Survived by daughter-in-law, Denise Martin. 

Brother of Yves St Amand (Doreen) of Grand Falls, NB, Lucette Cadieux (Jacques) of Grand Falls, NB, Odette Durepos (the late Jocelyn) of Grand Falls, NB, Rino St Amand (Johanne) of St. André, NB, & Martine St Amand of Grand Falls, NB. 

Predeceased by siblings, Marise Michaud (Barry) of New Denmark, NB, Marielle St Amand, Guilda Aylwin (Gaetan) of Quebec, & Carmel St Amand.

Missed by many nieces, nephews & extended family. 

Léandre retired from the Heinz Ketchup factory, previously with Libby's & Nestlé, for over 40 years as a general labourer. Frenchy could frequently be found at Tim Hortons, socializing with his friends, coworkers and anyone else he came across. He was a proud 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Frenchy enjoyed maintaining his garden and grooming his lawn - his pride and joy. His humour and charismatic personality will forever be missed by his family and friends. 

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of VON for their tremendous care and support to keep Léandre in his home until the end. 

As per Léandre's wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest with his parents in St André, NB. A Celebration of Life to take place at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
