Jay: Thelma Louise (née Penman) -

A resident of Chatham and formerly of Highgate and Ridgetown, Thelma Jay passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at her side on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the age of 91.

Born in Harwich Township, Thelma was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary (née Horton) Penman.

Beloved wife of 65 years to the late Charles Jay (2020).

Loving mother of Mary Lou Brown (Ken) and Cindy Gosnell (Brian) and the late Wayne Charles Jay.

Deeply missed by her grandchildren Jason Brown (Beth), Curtis Brown (Susana), Alisha Travnicek (John), Danielle Wesselius (Steven), David Jay (Amy) and Emily Jay (Dominic). Great-grandmother to Kayla, Sloan, Connor, Jackson, Isavel, Klarissa, Douglas and Wyllium.

Dear sister to Ruth Bishop. Predeceased by her brother Leonard Penman (late Ann).

Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Thelma was a lover of genealogy and history and dedicated many hours researching her family tree. She also published a hardcover book of the history of Clearville Park. Thelma was very dedicated to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Private Family Service will be held with a burial to follow at Duart Cemetery.
