A resident of Chatham, Margaret Eva Sloan passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance-Chatham Campus on December 9, 2024 at the age of 96. Born in Dover Township, Eva was the daughter of the late Bruce and Lorraine (nee Proudlove ) Crawford. Beloved wife of the late William Angus (Gus) Sloan. Predeceased by her siblings Max Crawford (Gladys), Ken Crawford (Jeaninne) and June Doyle (nee Crawford) (Gene). Survived by her brother Reg Crawford (Joan). Loving mother to daughter Gale Woodcock (Terry) of Chatham, ON, son, Tod Sloan (Karen) of Tiny, ON and daughter Lori Fowler (Shaun), Centreville, Nova Scotia. Proud Grandmother of Chris Watson (Teri), Jeff Watson (Ainslie), Jessica Irwin (Rob) (nee Sloan), Patrick Sloan (Rebecca), Kira Fowler (Tom) and Kendra Fowler (Nidal).Beloved GG of Baylea, Preston, Lily, Stella, Oscar, Finn, Peyton and Sloan. She will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, special friends at St. Angela's Meadow Retirement Lodge and her long time Friday ladies lunch group friends.A special thanks to her wonderful caregivers at St. Angela's, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and her longtime family physcian Dr. Zeke Milkovic.
Over the years, Eva was an avid curler and member of the Chatham Granite Club, where she made great friends and competed in many bonspiels with Gus - they were a real force on the Southwestern Ontario mixed bonspiel circuit. She was also a member of Maple City Country Club and played in the ladies league for many years.Some of her best memories were of days spent fishing out on the boat with Gus and friends, trolling for pickerel on Lake St. Clair. After 25 years with CIBC, in her retirement, Eva went on many trips with family all over the world, and when she wasn't travelling, she volunteered at the Chatham Food Bank and kept fit at her weekly aquarobics classes.
Friends will be received at the funeral home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral service to be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
