Obituary of Robert John Dakin

Dakin, Robert John

Surrounded by his loving family, Robert John Dakin passed away peacefully in his 73rd year at the CKHA on Dec. 25th. Born June 25th 1951, in Woodstock & raised in Embro.

Bob will be extremely missed by his wife, Louise (née Laprise), his son, Rob (Tracy) & three daughters Avril (Brian) Dakin-Romanick, Julie (Chris) Burgess & Krysten (Jeremy) Dakin- Visser.  His 10  thoughtful Grandchildren Kyle, Samantha, Robbie, Teryn, Rylan, Bradyn, Hunter, Ericka, Nolan & Annika will miss going fishing & boating with their Grandpa. He also loved his Great Grandchildren Mason, Sophia, RaeLynn & his Birthday Buddy, Kenneth!

Bob thoroughly loved ice fishing with his children, grandchildren and buddy Mike as well as summer fishing with our Erieau friends Don, Karen, Kevin & Sharon.

Since the 1979 IPM here in Chatham, Bob enjoyed competitive plowing and was greatly involved in the 2018 IPM in Paincourt! He acquired this interest from his Father George, who plowed competively for years!

Bob loved to watch his Son's goaltending for Dresden hockey league & his daughter pitch in the Dover Centre Baseball League. He was always amused by the other daughters' social skills!

Predeceased by his Father George  & his wife Joyce, mother Alma McCann & her husband Stan & his Father-in-law Art Laprise.

Bob retired from Navistar after 32 years then worked at Pioneer for 10 years.

A big Thank You to all staff on the second floor & ICU. Your thoughtfulness & care was greatly  appreciated!

Cremation has taken place and a small private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers & gifts, donations to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
