James Thomas Seney, a lifetime resident of Merlin, passed away on December 28, 2024 at the Blenheim Community Village - Retirement Residence at the age of 89.
He was the son of the late Harry & Alena Seney. He was the son-in-law of the late Leonard & Gladys Davis.
Beloved husband of 65 years to the love of his life the late Nancy Jean Seney.
Dear father of the late Michael Seney (2024), Janice Presley (Tom), Carolyn Fenton (Paul), & Judy Fisher (Don).
Grandfather of Colin, Jeremy, Ryan (Tabitha), Jonathan (Morgan), Shana (Jason), Emilee (Jordan), Blake (Whitney), Reid (Bryar), Jeffery (Kendra), Bradley (Danielle), Predeceased by grandson, Jason.
Great- Grandfather of Bianca, Kayden, Ryder, Jona, Clare, Nolan, Axel & Ozzy, Olivia, & Owen.
Brother of Shirley Sparks, (the late Dudley), Diana Jones (Jim) & Beverly Seney (Lynda).
Brother-in-Law of Marilyn Smith (the late Laurel) & the late Larry & Shirley Davis.
Missed by many nieces, nephews & extended family.
James retired from the Southwestern Regional Centre after 30+ years of service as a Supervisor. He was actively involved as an Member of the Merlin Legion and a devoted member of the Merlin United Church. His past experiences consisted of working on the Board of Directors for Crime Stoppers, being a Township Councilor for Raleigh Twsp., and assisting his time with the Kinsmen's K40 Club. He was a longtime dedicated Detroit Tigers and Toronto Maple Leafs fan growing up playing baseball and hockey in his younger years. Jim enjoyed spending time at the trailer at Wildwood by the Lake, traveling with Nancy, golfing, bowling, darts, going to the casino and playing cards. James had a passion for dancing and singing at special occasions and playing the Harmonica. Moments together as a family meant the most to James, reveling in the role as grandfather and great-grandfather. His friends will forever remember him as "Diamond".
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff and extended family of Blenheim Community Village- Retirement Residence and to the V.O.N.'s for their exceptional care during his time there.
Family to receive friends on Friday, January 3rd, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday January 4th, 2025 at the Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Merlin Cemetery.
