Obituary of Mary Barbara Lacina

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a truly special lady, Mary Barbara Lacina (Zak)
Mary started her life's journey in Czechoslovakia.  Daughter of John and Elizabeth Zak.
Mary came to Canada at the age of 3, where she grew up on her parent's farm.  A life she loved so well.
Everything from picking tomatoes, helping with all the chores, this lady was not afraid of hard work.
At the age of 20, Mary found the love of her life, Stan.  They married in 1947 and went on to have 3 children, Paulette, John and Donald.  Mary has 2 grandsons, Martin and Kurtis.  Abigail was the first grandchild. 
Mary had a great zest for life and had an amazing sense of love and laughter.  She was always quick with a joke or funny comment.  Her passion was gardening which she did well into her 80's.  She loved flowers.  Cats were one of her other greatest passions and her home was definitely never without one.
Her main passion was her husband Stan, who sadly passed away in 2006.  She told stories of how they danced together, bowled together, laughed together and loved each other above all else.
In her last years Mary fell victim to Dementia.  But this did not affect her sense of humour.  She was still a proud, strong, wonderful lady.  We will all miss her terribly, but the memory of her dancing with her hubby in heaven will keep her memory alive.  Friends and family will be received at the funeral home 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 11:00 am until service time at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow at Dresden Cemetery.
 
Donations to the Chatham Humane Society in memory of Mary would be appreciated by the family.
