My sincerest condolences Henry and Family,
It is with extreme sadness that I write to you today as I was just made aware of the passing of Irene. My name is Cory VanDeWauwer and I met Irene through the Ladies Auxillary group randomly while I was deployed to Afghanistan. Irene is such a kind woman, she wrote me on several occasions while I was deployed and we stayed in touch even when I returned home. She was a dear friend of my late Grandmother Rose VanDeWauwer. I met her and some of the other Ladies of the group when visiting Ridgetown. We also met once while she visited the Petawawa area (meeting in Pembroke). Every Christmas she reached out sending us military personnel a thoughtful Tim’s Card. Irene always had time for others. She genuinely cared for my well-being, even though I barely knew her. It is a very sad day when such a kind and generous person is taken from this planet. I can only imagine the grief you are experiencing, I just hope that my memory of Irene can add a small piece joy and brighten your spirits as her kindness brightened mine.

Hello Henry & Family

Growing up we made many weekend trips to Ridgetown to see Grandma. Sometimes one of us was lucky enough to spend a night at Aunt Irene and Uncle Henry's. I always looked forward to my turns. Even during the times she struggled and fought the hardest, there were always phone calls and text messages sending holiday wishes and asking how I was. We were so lucky to have her in our lives.

Darlene, David and families. My sincerest condolences at the loss of your beautiful mother. There were non other like her. Her heart and smile were larger than life as she showed all around her what true love looked like. She can never be replaced but her beautiful memories will live on forever.
