Obituary of Irene Evelyn Stepniak
STEPNIAK: Irene Evelyn (nee Lievens) -
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Lady Irene Stepniak who passed on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the age of 79. Everything she did was with elegance and love, whether it was for family, friends, comrades or strangers. She was always available to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Married to her sweetheart and love of her life, Henry for 59 years. Adored by both of her children, David Stepniak (April Knowler) and Darlene Joyce (Harry).
She is survived by her precious grandchildren, Taylor Stepniak (Dominique), Sarah Stepniak (Brad Maynard), Jenna Stepniak (Caleb Gillard), Brandan Joyce (Emma Konrad) and Jacquelyn Joyce (fiance Chad Phillips).
She doted on her great-granddaughter Trinity Cultess.
Missed by her six sisters Margaret Carter (Jim), Julianna Jubenville (late Robert), Georgina Swackhammer (Ron), Florence Huszka (Paul), Maria Lycke (Roger) and Rose Ann Lernout (late George).
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Irene began her career with Bell Canada as a teenager, retiring as a manager after over 30 years of service. She continued her friendships with the Bell Pioneers over the years.
Irene was a pillar within the community of Ridgetown. She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Br. 243 Ridgetown and the President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Irene was also active with the St. Michael's CWL for many years. She also collected for the CNIB and the Heart and Stroke Foundation for many years.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. Vigil Prayers will be held Thursday at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church, 26 George Street, Ridgetown at 11:00am on Friday, April 22, 2022. Interment to follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
It has been requested that all those attending the visitation and the Funeral Mass wear a mask.
Masses in memory of Irene would be appreciated by the family.
